Sto-Rox High School Reviews

As a parent that has six children in this district, I can honestly agree with the statement of another parent with the comment of alot of favoritism. However, I can also state that the district has a wonderful new superintendant. She is on top of things. Also, they have some new teachers in the upper classes that are good for preparation for college. Not all, but there are definately a few real good caring ones.

This school seems to be making a comeback. My child has been enrolled at that school for 10 years, and, while I had not been satisfied with the district until about 3 years ago, I must say that, in the past three or so years, Sto-Rox School District has seen much improvement. Extra efforts have been taken to involve parents, challenging honors classes have been implemented, and, unlike before, I am proud to say that my child is a student at Sto-Rox High School. The only negative thing I can say is that the school does not have much in the way of extracurricular activities. More than they used to, but not enough.

I'm not satisfied with the district. There is alot of favortism. They went through two principals in one year. The test scores are very low. I am taking my child out of the district at the end of the year to go to a school that is their to help the kids. The teachers/principals don't go out of their way to help students/parents. I don't recommend this school.

As a former student, I feel the quality of the education received was shameful. Going to college, I was unprepared thanks to open-book tests during my senior year (1997-1998), lack of challenging courses, a youthful distance-learning program, and apathetic teachers. Very few extra efforts were taken to involve parents, teachers didn't often attempt to culturalize the students or broaden their horizons... It seemed as if they were content with the shameful status-quo so long as they drew their paycheck steadily. They were unwilling to rock the boat.
