Dilworth Traditional Academy Reviews

This school has a thriving arts and music program, and very strong community support.

This is a great public school! The teachers are dedicated. The principal, Ms. Lamar, is very involved. She comes to nearly all PTA meetings, assemblies, and gatherings, (unlike many principals I have known). There is amazing support for gifted, and there are many opportunities for children to follow their interests, whether their interests are in music, chess, art, gardening, etc. Dilworth also has a wonderful group of parents with many outside gatherings and after school playing at local parks. Most parents are people who really wanted the best for their kids and who wanted to stay in the city for its culture, history and many wonderful learning opportunities. Unlike the last post, I have always felt very comfortable sending my daughter there and will have another daughter starting in the fall.

There is no saftey for the children if they are being bullied. School does as much as is required to protect however, if the children are out of the normal classroom activities ie. playground, lunchroom, gym the protection is non existant. My son has been bullied for 5 years now and it has now progressed to violent assault.

Excellent teachers, wonderful integration of arts and music into curriculum. I feel very safe sending my child there, both academically and socially. Parental involvement is outstanding and there is such a wonderful feeling of community among all the students. I would recommend this school above all others in the city.

I have never experienced a school that made going to school seem like a celebration of education. My child loved to go to school every day and was upset when school was over. Dilworth completely embraces the arts and creativity of all the children and I can not say enough good things about the principal(Mr. O'Keefe) and his staff. They are excellent educators, leaders, and examples for the children. I can not imagine my child attending any other elementary school. My child's musical talents were broadened by attending school and he enjoyed his experience there and is sadly missing it as he moves on to middle school. Hats off to you all at Dilworth. We love you! Debbie

my children are obtaining a top notch start at their education career. i am so impressed with skills of leadership, public speaking, school involvement and the great classroom learning of math, reading, english and social studies. the staff is excellent and they are a super team together. i wish the school went to 8th grade. i cant express the joy my children have about going to school each day, and towards the end of summer how they cant wait for school to start. this is a school that uses the arts and humanities to teach tolerance to the students and how to accept each others work of expressions, views, values and differences. parents are encouraged to be involved with so many choices and ways to be part of this wonderful school.
