Phillips Elementary School Reviews

This is a wonderful school. I don't agree that they give too much homework. The children in the United States are behind in many areas when it comes to education. It is time that we step up as parents and teachers and get the children ready for their futures. With technology constantly progressing they will not only be competeing with the US job force they will be competing with the worldwide job force. I commend the staff at Phillips for recognizing that the students are responsible for their education.

The staff puts too much pressure on the students and comments are not welcome from students/parents. Too much homework is given, homework even on Holiday Breaks/Summer Break (Summer Reading) This school is just a bribe to try to get you to come so they can have success and not your child, they have poor communication, and criticize students, and if your child is failing they wait until the last minute to tell you and blame you for making comments about their school.

I feel that the class size is way to large for teachers to handle and this also makes learning difficult for children as well.

The school uses a teaching method reminiscent of twenty years ago; poor communication between teachers and parents, and an overall 'children should be seen and not heard mentality'.

I think that they do have great programs but I agree that there is definetly too much homework for grades 3 and up. Also, the treatment of some of the teachers towards the students leaves alot to be desired.

You go to school, listen to the teacher and leave. Comments are not welcome from either students and/or parents. Children are not permitted to be a child. No room for growth.

There is a lot of pressure put on students. The teachers can make mistakes but the students must not make any!K-2 are okay but after that students are given too much homework and are often criticized to harshly. They have too many expectations that the students can not meet which I feel lowers self esteem. Also this school does not seem to care about the parents comments on these issues.

Phillips Elementary has mostly excellent teachers with a few exceptions. Phillips Elementary looks good on paper and awards a good principal does not make. At Phillips Elementary parents are not permitted to speak honestly and/or directly to their teachers and the children are not treated as individuals.

Phillips Elementary is a wonderful learning environment for students. It offers the Spanish magnet program, which expands the horizons of our children. The teachers are helpful and the principal is wonderful.

Could not ask for a better educational environment. Excellent teachers with multiple degrees. Principal, Dr. Barbara Rudiak, just received the national Principal of the Year Award for Pennsylvania.
