Lomond Elementary School Reviews

It is great that Lomond is integrated with a predominately black and white student population but more improvement is needed to close the gap in terms of test scores. I like the fact that parent involvement is welcomed in the classroom.

Everything about this school rates at the excellent level. It is hard to imagine such a diverse school both racially, ethnically and financially achieving such high state and fedearl grades. The students take Chineese language classes twice a week and have a nationally documented math teaching formula. There are so many after school activities as well as endless opportunities for parent involvement. Overall, there is no better place for a child to receive top-notch education in an extremely diverse atmosphere.

I heard this was a good school in terms of student performance but was disappointed that foreign language like French or Spanish isn't included in the curriculum. Also it would be helpful if students who missed class were able to access from the internet via a powerpoint presentation what the teacher went over in class. Also with the amount of money residents pay in property taxes in Shaker Heights central air conditioning could be put in at the school.

Both my children have had great experiences at this school. Teachers are professional, caring and communicate effectively with parents and students. A great, diverse learning environment that builds a basis for a life-long love of education.

Lomond is a great school! My child is so lucky to have begun his education with such caring and experienced professionals that have encouraged in him a love of learning and respect for others. Dr. Svec has set up a peaceful school environment and finely-tuned administrative structure. The school attends to the needs of all children--those who have remedial issues and those who excel in one area or another. There's even an afterschool chess club. Lomond also boasts a very commited parent community.

I love this school. The staff is exceptional. The way Dr. Svec and the entire staff have gotten together to make sure that kids are getting the help they need is inspiring. Even in our great school system they are exceptional. One thing that is not highlighted enough is how well Lomond closes the educational gap between the races which really isn't done enough even in the so called 'excellent' schools as rated by the very faulty proficiency tests.
