Shaw High School Reviews

I come from a Catholic private school that costs $10,000 a year to go to Shaw High School. The two schools are just as good, if not better. My science class, Chemistry, is more challenging and demanding than any of the classes that the juniors are taking at VASJ that over-charges by a mile. Now, for the school to have just been built, there are issues that are unexpected like a leaky roof and the heat doesn't go off in all of the classrooms.Of course there are more fights than in a private school because there are twice, if not three times as many students attending in an overcrowded school. At this school, I have a better chance at earning college creds to put me ahead by a year when I attend college. The fact is Shaw High is better than most would have you believe. Not to mention the success of the band!

The quality of education is lacking because the teacher can t teach because the disruption by the student and some the teacher is teaching student thing we learn already, but there are very few faculty members who care about the students and their success .There are not enough school books or other teaching materials available for the number of students who attend. So the student are learn not current thing. The extra curricular activities are what keep the students involved but not a lot. The school board takes every opportunity to hinder those programs sometime the event come to the school to see what up with the school. This is my last year and most school are focusing on there senior and our school is focusing on the sophomores, so the senior don t have no money except for like five hundred dollars and that is not going to cover the graduation.

The quality of education is lacking. The school board is composed of members who do not appear to care about the children in the district. There are not enough school books or other teaching materials available for the number of students who attend. There are very few faculty members who care about the students and their success. The extra curricular activities are what keep the students involved, however the school board takes every opportunity to hinder those programs. There is very little parent involvement in anything other than the marching band and possibly football. There is no parent involvement in the academic areas.

It would be hard to rate the staff at Shaw for just the purpose of their dedication as teachers they are a family , Our children in East Cleveland benefit in more ways than just having great academic instruction They are Loved, Jeanine King Mother of Veronica Lee King

I am not a parent but a former student from the E.Cleveland City School District and I have had the unfortunate oppourtunity to be enrolled in Cleveland Public Schools and a Charter School where the education I received was by all means worthless and terrible. Where E.Cleveland lacks in funding and money they make up for it with the best teachers who are dedicated and motivated. They offer a variety of extracurricular activities and while I was there parents really cared about their child's education. I wouldnt know how that is now though. I would recommend this school district to anyone searching for a school hoping for a better option than Cleveland Public Schools.

I attended school in the East Cleveland City School District my whole life and i believe that i recieved the best education possible. There they offer a number of after school activities and academic programs. The teachers and parents really care alot about the students and are always willing to go that extra mile so that it's students may succeed. I believe that they have given me all of the skills that i need to accomplish my dreams. I would truly say that attending East Cleveland City Schools was an experience that i wouldn't trade for anything.I was so involved in all of the activites and sports teams that they offered that it always kept me busy.It is just a great school district to attend.
