South High School Reviews

i think south is a sad school. its not very good but the teachers are very tolerant

I am a south high school graduate '05'. When the principal was Ms. Mc Kinney, When i attended South High, there wasnt alot of excitement because as a student you find certain teachers that tend to not care, but i was fortunate to have teachers and coaches that took the time out to really help me, personally. I was very hard of studying and when the profiency test came around i passed all but the math part. It was one of those subjects that i really couldnt get the hang of, even though i wasnt able to walk the stage with my fellow classmates my teachers and coaches kept in contact with me and tutored me til i passed it, now im in college and have been for the past three years.. Yes South High has its rowdy students but as long as you know what your there for

My name is Michael Jones and I was a student at this school for two years and I had a great experience. True the school has had its issues with rowdy students, but what school doesn't. I think that to make a school better there needs to be more involvement and interaction from the parents as well as teachers. As far as the safety is concerned if parents would take more time to know what their children are involved in it would not be so many problems. So many people are quick to point the finger at the teachers but they are the ones that show up everyday to teach. This school has wonderful programs and activities that can keep the active mind going. It takes time and effort to make anything work and for the future of our children why not put in the effort.

I am a current student at South High and the school is known for its rowdy pass but now the school has simmered down some. The facility are nice and caring for their students. The administrator's are kind and caring. I am a sophomore who is ready to see what my education can do for me.

South high school may have been rowdy in the previous years but class of 2007 is the best class. Our test scores have went up graduation percentage has went to 80 percent and south high cosmetology graduated over 300 cosmetologist from here alone. We are at the best we can be and we wont give up -denetria elder

I am a student that Goes to South and attend Animal care at washington park school I have had As and Bs in all the years I have been there. This is my senior year there and it improved a lot we had a higher percentage last year of more students graduating and I like my teachers they do a well job and for my animal care teacher and the program and the other programs they are #1.They have good sports a good band and art the parents need to get involved a little more but they try but otherwise I would have to say if you wanted to choose a high school to go to I would say go to south. I this this is a poor facility and unsafe, mainly due to the enviroment surrounding it.

South High is an average school. As far as academic programs go, they have an excellent vocational program in a seperate building called Washington Park. They also offer cosmotology. With the parent involvement the most they are active is when there is a problem or altercation with another stundent, rarely for a regular check-up. The sports arts music and extracurricular activities are above averge.

I am sorry people have such a negative view on their exierence at South High School. I started in 1999 and I graduated, the tenth in my class may I add, in 2003. I feel like I was challaged when I went to school there and I had the best teachers. In addition to the regular south classes they also have classes in Washington Park. That deals with teaching the students how plant flowers, trees, and shrubs. It also teaches students how to succeed in landscaping and small animal care. They help the students to chose a career. I feel that the reason everyone is blaming South for their failures is because they don't won't to take the responsiblity of not pushing themselves or their kids to succeed.

I am a student that attends south high school and I think it is a very good school people are always judging the school and they don't even attend the school. The extracurricular activities are very good. Everyone gets a chance to play or be on what ever team they want weather it is the football team or the basketball team it doesn't matter if you are a nerd or are just disliked. There is no discrimetion towards anybody. There is not alot of parent involement I will admit that but the kids do good with out there parents. But when it comes down to the games the parents are all there to cheer on there kids, they show support for there kids. The academic there is very good the teachers really do try and help the kids as long as the kids are tring to help thereselves to. You learn alot .

This School should be condemned and the teachers all fired. I attended South in 97. I did not graduate because of violence, gangs, teachers afraid to discipline. This school will never improve in a poverty stricken community with no means of hope. If I would have had a solid education and less problems with fighting, I would have succeeded there. However I attended a Private school located in Florida via mail. I just now recieved my High School Diploma 1/2005. (I am 25 years old) If you live in this area and this school is your decision for yur child, please reconsider another alternative if you want to see them GRADUATE. (Not by earning grades to sit in class, by actually doing the work assignments.

One of the worst schools. I went there for 2yrs. I didn't graduate. Most of the teachers don't want to help you. It's so easy to cut and get into trouble. I hated going there and If I could have went to another school I would of!

Worst school. Fire alarms pulled all day long and all year long. Witnessed fights and drugs in hall ways and everyday in classes. They do not return phone calls or letters. Rude to parents and students. The few white children are harrassed, teased, bullied and not just by fellow students.Have witnessed at the dances and after school activities students that are not African American clothes are sprayed with bleach.Unorganized and undisciplined. Report cards and progress reports are mailed at the end of the next marking period. Books are not issued to students. 4 books for 6 classes to share in the room. If you need tutoring you have to have a notorized statement saying that it will replace childs class and because of this they will not graduate on time. Students allowed to incorrectly grade other students work and tests.

This school is horrible, My daughter has so many problems with the African American kids picking on her since she is mixed and becuase she doesn't 'hang' out with that crowd. This summer we are moving to the North Royalton school dist for a better education. She is a intellegent girl and needs real teachers. If you have other choices on schools please do not attend this school. There are much better schools in the area.
