Charles A Mooney Elementary School Reviews

Mooney has greatly improved over the past 8 years. I have had some involvement with this school and notice a great improvement with behavior, academics, and staff support. The office staff and teachers have been some of the most helpful in Cleveland. I met great parents volunteering, and great teachers teaching at Mooney. The students were wonderful too.

My girls were going to a private school and i don't think they were doing that well so i transferred them here to Mooney. I have not had any problems in 5 years. My daughter has made merit/honor roll every year and my other daughter graduated from here. In my opinion it's an OK school.

I have 2 girls that attended Mooney for the past 2 years. I am now in the process of transferring my kids to a different school due to the lack of respect between the students and teachers. I was disgusted at just how badly the teachers talk to the students and vice versa. My oldest was a star pupil before attending Mooney and now she's lucky to barely pass to the eighth grade. My youngest still was able to keep her grades up but came home every day with a horrible story to tell. The principe, Mr. Maul, I think is an excellent role model for these kids, however I think he's way over his head trying to single-handedly make the school a better place.

This is a great school this is my second year going here but sadly my last i am going to the 9th grade next year so i am sad but this is a great school if every body gives it a chance they would love it as much as i do it's the best school i have ever gone to

This has to be the worst school! I have 1 child in this school. He will not be going there next year. No one returns calls, report cards are incorrect. Children there have a bad potty mouth. Teachers don't care.

This is the first time I have a child in Cleveland schools, and I am NOT impressed with Charles Mooney at all, for 1 they dont give out lunch schedules, so I have no idea what my child is having every day, secondly I just dont like the schools curricular program at all...seeing how my son is only in Kindergarden, next year if we are still living in the Cleveland area, he will not be going back to Charles Mooney, that is for sure.

I have 2 daughters and 2 step-sons at mooney. My girls have been there for four years with no problems. My eldest step-son has some behavior problems.Mr.Maul has gone out of his way to help us keep him on task.I feel he is doing a great job with what he has to work with. The vice principal on the other hand,is very smug about her job, very rude to parents. As for the students, they need more disapline, they roam halls, and walk out of class all the time, and the language is terrible. Mooney also has alot of racial tension,i have seen this first hand. If more parents were to get involved, mooney would be a better school.

This school is well on it's way to being out of control! The teachers are never availible to talk to parent, principal is never in office and does not return phone calls, students are very cruel to each other and teachers and principal do nothing to put a stop to it. The education wasn't taken care of, it felt like the teachers could care less if the student was learning or not. You do not realize if your child isn't cutting it in the learning department until it is too late to do anything to help change the situation.

I have lived across from Mooney for 20 years, I did not go there as bussing was in effect then. But my sister 15 years younger did, it stunk then. The kids out of control ect. Now 7 years later my kids go there 2 last year for the whole year and 3, this year, for 3 days. We got them the hell out and it made (in a few days) a huge difference. Now our kids are at Benjamin Franklin. At Mooney we couldn t get the principal or the staff to even give a moment of their time, never have I seen staff so rude. The kids are way out of hand and if you look at the testing scores for the schools overall Mooney is one of the worst, with staff like they have go figure. And on a lesser note Kindergarten kids do NOT belong in the same school as 7th-8th grade kids (toand it is getting worse every year. And as far as I see it wont change as they(school board ao know this just sit at my house and see the fights and the language used by these kids). Of course this has been like this for years all 20 I have been here nd school staff) don t care! If they did my wife and I would have been happy to have our kids across the street for school. And for the present students that say its fine, you need to see how a REAL school runs! Before Mooney our eldest had As and Bs last year at Mooney he got Cs and Ds his reason, the kids act up so much and they beat on you if you do well, add that to the noise level in the classes, (I have first hand knowledge of class behavior) the fact many walk right out the door with staff watching yep this is a winning school. Last note my kids didn t have any text books not for one class, at his new school a book for every class mind you both are Cleveland public schools not a mile apart!

my daughter went to mooney for kindergarten last year the teacher was very nice but I didnt like the idea of her going to school w/ much older kids running around cussing and fighting, I know its not all the kids but quite a few .I think its because there isnt enough supervision. I moved here from las vegas thinking schools would be better obviously I was wrong .The schools there are new and they have more supervision. I am not happy at all w/ this school I'm going to have to put her in a private school.

I go to this school and I am in the seventh grade now. I have been going there for 3 years. I am a straght A student here, But this school stinks. There are always fights. There are so many students failing that it isn't even funny. They serve the same lunchs 2 days in a row and there is hair in the food. The sports are good and we have good teams. But there needs to be more discipline at this school.

this school has very very bad supervision and the kids are way out of hand. the teachers were great but the kids treated them like dirt and skipped and walked out of the class whenever they wanted. I was a student there my 7th grade year and my mom put me into a privite school for better education. Charles A. Mooney is not a suitable school.

I go to charles a mooney. The teachers are very nice and smart and so far I have not had any problems, and yes I'm white. I've gone to mooney for 3 years now and I've made lots of friends and learned a lot of things. I'm now in the 6th grade. The school isn't the prombl, it's some of the kids. No I'm not one of them. If you want your kid to learn a lot about computers then Mooney is one schools that has very good computer teachers. I go to Mooney and I have nothing bad to say.

My son has attended Charles A Mooney for the last two years and he has had one problem after another. There is no supervision in the school. I have been to the school to pick up paper work and students are roaming the halls. When you do have a problem the staff does not want to take the time to offer solutions to the problem. My son has had a very negative experience at this school, and we are moving to a new school district so he can receive a better education.

I feel that Charles H.Mooney has no structure to it.I believe most of teachers mean well but the office staff is weak and did not want to assist in problem solving,my son (a white male student) had problems with some of the black students,-no one wanted to hear it--they don't seem to want believe that racial tension is in the school. My daughters teacher asked that parents donate hand soap and paper towels cause the school or the school district does not provide it, yet they dont want children to miss school for sick days-a child with dirty hands is more likely to become sick! For the most part I think that Cleveland schools are a joke and if I could afford to move out of Cleveland(Im working on it )I would move to suburb to spare myself and children from this so called school system.

Very good school!
