Other people went to other middle schools and they know way more information then I. Southfield Schools are just as ghetto as Detroit Schools, and I know I used to go to school there for 6 years. Levey has got stinky bathrooms and not enough teachers. During the summer it gets so hot, we don't have an AC and there's only one in the computer rooms. Our experience has been nothing but pleasurable. Levey Middle School has definitely met and exceeded it's potential. The Pricipal and her Staff are wonderful. They are very open to communicate with the parents and inform you as to what's going on in the school. The academic program at Levey is awesome. My daughter is learning things far beyond most 6th graders. I contribute this to her teachers for always being available, if the students are in need of extra help. I found it at Levey. By the end of the first year my daughter was back on the Honor Roll. The damage that was done at the previous school was quickly resolved and surpassed during her time at Levey. It has tremendous potential, but parents need to do more than drop off their children and teachers need to do more than show up and get union updates. My son started with Levey as a 6th grader and he will be graduating 6/05 . Principal Muhammad has done an excellant job with his involvement and leadership, he is a good role model for students, especially the males. The students' M.E.A.P scores have increased due to the motivation that Principal Muhammad exhibits and the encouragement and instruction of the teachers'. If your child is struggling in a subject tutoring is available. If your child is doing exceedingly well in a subject the teacher will move the child to an advance class concerning that subject(s). Mr Parkinson who is the band teacher really helps the children develop thier musical talent. The band has received several awards for thier performances both in state and out of state. I strongly feel that Levey has equipped my child for his High School year 9/05.”
