Southeastern High School Reviews

I have been very impressed with the leadership at Southeastern High School. My son is very active in sports and he brought home a progress report with 5 A's and 1 C. He is excited about the school, new friends, teachers, and coaches. Oh, he says that the lunches are great!

Southeastern High School of Technology is one of the best schools in Detroit. I attended and graduated from this school with very high grades and a well established future for myself. I could not have gotten to where I am if it was not for this school. The faculty and staff are tremendous. They show great concern and interest in the education and well being of students at the school. Southeastern has had a bad reputation on account to events that have happened in the past. The school has really grown. The violence is down and many students are doing very well. I graduated with a 3,8 gpa and now I am attending the University of Michigan. I love this school and anyone who has the opportunity should attend this school.

I am a freshman that now attends Southeastern High School. Im in all Honors courses and I feel that the Honor students recieve a better education than students in general ed classes. So I highly recommend future students to try and apply for Honor courses. In my opinion, gang violence is a big issue that needs to subside at Southeastern. As of Ms.Gatlin, she is a wonderful principal who believes in discipline. She also insists that students use polysyllabic terms so that they build a tremendous vocabulary.

I am a junior at Southeastern and I love it there. Ms Gatlin is a awesome principal and unike alot of others she actually cares about the students. Our school is often overlooked because of the neighborhood it is in but S.E. is one of the best high schools in Detroit in my opinion.

SHST is a hinden treasure in Detroit. It's a DPS that is emerging in acadmics, technology, sports and safety. The administration is dedicatated to set high standards for staff and students so that students may rise above the normal statistics given to urban public high schools. (DLW)

This is a wonderful school for students to attend considering the violence rate is very low in this school and over 75% of there students graduate every year. This also has a lot to offer when it comes to sports and other extracurricular activities. When it comes to parent involvement I would have to say its great considering everyone at this school is like one gig happy family. If I had to rate this school on a scale from 1 to 10 I would give it a 10.

My son started at SE in Sept. as a freshman. The teachers seem to show great interest in my child's education it helped him to bring is grades up from the 1st semester. Ms. Gatlin is a wonderful principal, who definitely has a vision. Because of her determination and interest in the students getting an excellent education, and the various technical classes they offer is the reason I considered sending him there.

Southeastern High School is most certainly on the right track of setting and enforcing a dress code standard. I visited the school in September 05 and found the faculty and staff on task with academic instruction and guidance. Also, I saw the new computers and classrooms. Any one can focus on the negative but it takes a person of vision and insight to see the growth an positive. Let's not waste our time on small things. Yes, I heard the staff discussing with students about the dress code. But at the same time it appeared as though the student respect and solicted the conversation and attention. Students most certainly welcome the new attitudes and care and support from the faculty and staff. In summary, I say let's join new attitudes and support the school with this positive change. Keep up the good job SEHS.!

instead of trying to inforce a school dress code they need to put that to the side a little bit and focus on our young adults education a little more

thank to ms.gatlin S.E is on the rise to greatness but there is one thing that some of the students i talk to mention to me and other parent about, they are always saying that in S.E they seem to focus a little more on the dresscode than they are about educating our kids

Southeastern High School of Technology has much to offer its students but the reputation it has from former years of service has given it a bad name. Don't let what happened in the pas distort your view of what could possibly be the best thing that could happen to your child. Brenda Gatlin is a smart woman with a vission that will take SE to the next step and beyond. Just look at the changes she has made since she has been there and you will see what I am mean. She picked up where Dr. Jaqualine Miller left off and has ran with the ball ever since. Her comming to SE is the best thing that could have happened to the school. She has a great staff, who knows a good leader when they see one.
