Mumford High School Reviews

I am currently a Junior at Mumford high school (c/o 2009) and I am taking honors and AP classes. I believe that they tend to cater to students who want to learn. I have teachers that care and they develop those one-on-one relationships with all of their students. The teachers recognize you when you've done great and they motivate you when you're slipping. In the two years that I've been here, not once have I had a teacher that has not cared about my well-being. When I leave Mumford, I strongly believe that I will be well prepared for college. I give Mumford plenty kudos. =]

Mumford high school teachers are really helpful and dont mind staying after school to help a student that really need it.

My daughter is a senior at Mumford High School and I am truly pleased with her development and maturation as a result of the caring staff at the school. She is an honor student that transferred from CMA after her sophomore year. The principal and other adminstrators keep the students respectful and focused. The tolerance for nonsense is very low. My daughter is in honors courses and is taking full advantage of all of the benefits of being a Mustang.

This schhooll iz tha best. Mi beautiful husband attends this schooll he's a senior

Fantastic School Hands Down

Samuel C Mumford is a great school with long standing staff members who care about the students. The administrative staff does their part in attempting to make Mumford a quality school. With over crowding and lack of student concern for education Mumford is doing its best to educate those who want an education. Mumford has produced many successful graduates in the past and present and will continue to do so as long as they continue with great leadership and teachers who care! Go M-u-s-t-a-n-g-s! Sweet Sweet Powder Blue!

My daughter is in her sophmore year at Mumford, and the school has seemed to cultivate something within her and helped her in reaching her potential and providing the assurance that she can succeed no matter what the statistics say. I really like how they cultivate their 9th graders, they offer a program in the summer for those students making the transition into high school. It gets them acclimated to the staff, the building and most of all their peers. It teaches them how to handle situations that may arise in high school and life in general and provides them with alternatives than that of the majority; this helped to build their confidence and break down the fear/anxiety of how to fit in, and for some how not to get lost in a large mass of people. The building needs maintenance inside.

Mumford highschool is a good school. It has dedicated staff and administrators. The principal cares about all of her students.Although test scores are low, lets not bring down Mumford highschool.Instead lets focus on the real concerns. There is not enough money in our school systems.Schools such as renassiance and Cass Tec are the schools that get all of the money and that is way so many schools are under acheiving in so many aspects.I am a student who attends Mumford highschool, and I have pride in being a student at Mumford. Many teachers at this school truly care about their students, teachers at mumford, primary goal is educating students, but many students just dont have that drive, but thats not the schools fault. The students at Mumford highschool who aremotivated students who strive to succeedin life are getting the skills they need to succeed in life.We must focuss on the realconcerns to move forward. from a dedicated student.

This is high school with very dedicated administration, faculty and staff. The students (mostly minority) come from all corners of the city. The result is a collage of abilities, learning styles and behaviors. Given this mixing bowl of challenges the employees remain committed to educating and providing a safe learning environment for the students. There is excellent cooperation from DPS security as well as the Detroit police department in the effort to allow students to come to school and learn with minimal fear. Despite low funding, students receive educational and extracurricular opportunities that rival those of the well-funded schools. This is a wonderful school for any Detroit student.

This school has yet to bring their students academic ability inline with the national average. I feel strongly that this is a disservice to our community and to the students themselves. The leadership at the school should do more than make cosmetic changes. The parent group serves as the administrations private cheerleaders, just puppets. Many parent voices are never heard. All of our students need quality education. Take the blinders off and really look at this school and the lack of progress the students really make. The real test is how well do our students do when they go on to collge or a career. A quality school produce quality students that can be successfull in any areana.
