Cooley High School Reviews

I have a student at Cooley. She is honor roll and has been for all three years. We are constantly dissappointed by the staff at Cooley. They want to treat all the students the same. This cannot happen. I am aware that there are students that dont comply to all the rules. But, this isnt the case with all students. I also had a son who graduated in 07 as Suma Cum Lada. So, this goes to show that dispite the problem students there are students that follow the rules and focus on the reason that they are there. With this said. Please Cooley High and all other DPS. Please show some respect to the students that follow the rules and apply themselves in their studies. Because this can cause them to change if you dont.

Cooley needs help! The staff and parents must work together for one common goal the children. The safety issues in DPS schools needs a overhaul. The kids need to learn the word respect. I love Cooley overall. But we just need some help to make our school succeed. It's takes everyone to make this happen.

I attended Cooley and at that time it was a very good school. I plan to return to engage in a partnership with the program that I have. The sport teams there where dynamic, I played softball for 3 years and loved it! It helped keep me focused academically.

i just graduated from cooley and i can say beeing in cooley has made me the person i am today the jrotc program is excellent and i really admire the principal Mr. Woodhouse he really pushes us to strive for the best and he sorts of reminds me of the princpal from the move lean on me joe clark because he want's everyone to suceed and give their best

Cooley High is one of the 'better' public high schools in Detroit. There are many problems, but we should be mindful that the staff can only teach as much as the students allow them. If students come to school with bad attitudes and are unwilling to learn what more can the staff do - especially without parents support. I think most teachers and the administration are doing the best they can.

Cooley high school is a great school with a hard but loving teacher. that school is realy great i love that school. Cooley high school teaches are young kids about the real world and what they can become.

COOLEY HIGH SCHOOL is failling apart, on the stairs there is water everywhere because the roof has a big hole in it. about 5 or 6 stair ways is blocked off because of it, and the bathrooms are terrible. inside of the bathroom there is no tissue, soap some of the doors are off the stall, its dirty and they dont clean it regurly as needed. the teachers are dedicated teachers and for what they go through i would have been up and quit. they need alot of work put into that school and the students act like wild animals.

The staff often give wrong information to parents concerning the students and school information. The principle does not consider himself a part of the staff and has very little concern about parental concerns. My child attended this school 1 year and within that year no one could give me correct information about his attendance, grades, half days, school closings, summerschool, report cards or overall performance. The school board should look into this school. This school is not a safe school if your child leaves the school grouds before his/her time no one contacts you.
