Cody High School Reviews

well i graduated from cody in 200*. i had about 30+ absences in one class 20+ in another and God knows how many in the other. i still graduated with a 3.7 g.p.a. Let's just say some teachers care and some just pass you along. Don't get me wrong, I am a smart young lady. However, it was not because of Cody. It was my thirst and curiosity for knowlege. I love the staff and my peer but i would Never send my children there for their education.

I am a former student of Cody High School. The experience attending the school was pleasant. The school was among the first to offer programs such as FAMS(Ford Academic & Manufacturing Skills)and DAPCEP(Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program). It is basically up to the student to get the most out of their learning experience. Parents, it is up to you to get involved. It you notice parents not participating, just worry about you and your child, and hopefuly the rest will follow.

Two of my children attended this school. One was struggling with the grades, skipped and I had to pull her out. The other, well lets say she let the enviroment get the best of her. She no longer attends. I refused to let my last child attend so I had to go charter then private. It all depends on the child, but I must agree with the statements made that this school needs some serious work. I only met one positive teacher there even the guidence center was not working with me nor the attendence officers. The only thing I did like was the fact that the freshmen were separated from the uppper classmen. Parents, if this school is your only choice, I would advise you to make sure that you are always active and involved with your child while he/she attends. It would help in the long run.

This is the worst high school ever. The teacher and administration commitment is horrible. The education that's provided is not enough for a young girl or man to survive once he or she goes on to college. The building itself needs to be condemned. My advice is to try to enroll your child into another school if at all possible. Cody gets two thumbs down.

I have to agree with the comment before this. Cody High School needs alot of work before it can get my recommendation. As far as I'm concerned the school itself is'nt at the level it should be, especially considering the amount of money being poured into the district as a whole. This of course is a shame, to think of how many students are'nt getting the education they deserve. I have had first hand experience in this school, being that I am a senior as of right now in it. Not to mention I am one of the white students, that even makes it more of a difficult task attending the school. However, even though there are many unconcerned teachers at the school, there are also the group of teachers and students alike that really take their education seriously. I really hope something is done to correct the issues here.

I have learned as a student at this school that your education, as well as life in general is what you make of it. With regard to this school, which I have attended, it means that the lack of teacher or administrative commitment only means that students who want to learn must take extra strides in securing a foundation for college and the real world. Other schools can offer more in terms of sports, activities, not to mention a reputation of excellence, but can they offer the opportunity to succeed when no one thinks you can. If you are reading this, it probually means you are thinking of moving into the surrounding area, therefore my advice, is if you think your child needs the extra attention or motivation, send him to a surrounding suburb school or maybe Cass or Renaissance.

i live in Chicago, illinois but twenty two years have past i still believe i played a part in destroying my community back then i recall this great school through my girfriend eyes she appeared so happy just being apart of Cody situations change when attiudes towards conditions change and no it did not take any correctional facility to change me i've grown here in chicago being involved with community organizations to rebuilding parents focus groups addressing issues at hand reachable goals small as study groups with freshmen at the local library we have the responsibility to demostrate the desire to learn and use resources the contribute to that process iam not complaining just reflecting on that desire my girlfriend had attending Cody H.S. back then

This is by far one of the worst schools that I ever saw. Most teachers do not care if the students learn the material or not. Half the teachers are racist towards any race other than black and teachers lecture more about how blacks are mistreated then teaching. I attended Cody high for four years and what I learned could be condensed into a single semester in any other school. I warn all parents and students that want to learn not to any school in Detroit because they are a waste of time!
