YMCA Service Learning Academy Reviews

I have had my kids in the YMCA SLA for 8 years now. I recommended this school to family and friends, and would recommend it to anyone else. This is a great school with great kids, teachers and the rest of the staff. I can't wait till they get a high school. If you are looking for a great, safe, high achieving school for your child this is it! Go YMCA!

AYO! What can i say! This school have did wonders to my life! I just graduated june 2, 2008 from the YMCA SLA's jr. academy. I've been attending this school 1999 when it was first built. I have history with this school. It is awesome! they have many activities such as cheerleading, boys basketball, girls basket ball, band, robotics, and they used to have a marching band! This school takes trips all over the state. So if you want your child to have a good education and want them to be successful in life, I would reccomend your child here!

After Graduating from the YMCA SLA ive become a better student.I realize to trust in myself in doing things best to my abillities. In doing so my report card are really good.I want to thank all the teachers who have taught me through the years.Keep up the good work.

This is my son's first year (kindergarten) at this school. And thus far I must say I am very pleased. The curriculum is great and so are the teachers. The only downfall I would say is the parking. But I have noticed someone in the parking lot lately directing the traffic. So I guess their working on improving it.

This is my daughter 1st year there and she's in kindergardent. I love ymca school they are very secure and concerned about the children learning and well being. I can actually say that im looking forward to my daughter graduation from the 8th grade. The only thing i have a problem with is the traffic and the parking i hope someone from the school reads this but i know they will get it together.

I have experienced this school's patient and excellent education program with two children. This is school is excellent excellent excellent the teachers are personable. Kudos to the principal and adiministrative assistant of the junior academy. I recommend this school all parents.

Very great school. I have 2 children who attend this school and it is great to have the teachers so dicated to the parent and the school.

I attend the Ymca-Sla. This is my first year attending here. I think taht this is a wonderful school because out of all the schools I've attended; Ymca taught me a whole lot of new vocabulary and that improved my writing skills. The teachers always teaches and take the time to help students when they need assitance. Thats why I believe Ymca-Sla is a wonderful school.

My daughters attend the y and I give the school a rating of 5 stars. My 3rd grader is a student in ms.Barnes classroom. She is such a loving and caring teacher. She is very good at her job,and the students and parents love her!!! Thanks Ms.Barnes ( Ms.Starks and Deja'nay Williams)

I have been attending ymca sla ever since the 3th grade now Im in the 8th grade I really love the school, the enviroment is great and I feel safe going outside, the school curricumlum activitys are fun and the only problem i have with the school is the time, why is school so long?

As far as character building and instilling a desire within a student to want to learn, and having an atmosphere of security; I would give YMCA SLA the highest score available. Being an older parent with grown children I am very please with this newer form of public education. This has been the best experience for my 8th grader who graduated this year. He is going to be alright. He went from an suffering system, to a homeschooling situation then to the best situation YMCA SLA. The administration, teachers and community atmosphere has worked well for my family as well as for my future-leader-son. He also learned to give back to his school and his community.

The school is incredible. The lunch is great, the classes are very interesting, and the learning atmosphere is so inviting. I have attended the school for 5 years now and after the first 3 years,I knew it would be hard for me to leave in the eighth grade. I have heard that they might have a high school, but I'm not going to hold my breathe. The school is just wonderful and I love it!

My daughter has been a student here since first grade. She is in the sixth grade now and I have been extemely pleased with her experience here. All of her teachers have been wonderful and seem to truly care about all their students. The children at this school are given the best education and the field trips are much better than anything I've ever witnessed(Ivy League College Tour, Exchange City, etc).I hope that YMCA Academy introduces a high school before my daughter gets out of eighth grade because that is where she will be going!

My daughter has been attending YMCA SLA for 3 years, since kindergarten. I really like the staff. I have seen teachers go the extra mile. I do have to complaints, the traffic around the school is horrible and I the fact that the kids have to go to another building for gym. Other than these problems that should be looked into especially the traffic, I think Ms Greene-Roberts and her staff are doing a great job.

I really like the school, but there are a few things that needs a change. The school grounds are covered with trash, there is trash all around the ground by the dumpsters and my childs classroom window was broken over the thanksgiving break and it is still broken (January 2007). I love all of the extra activities, but the trips are too expensive.

I really like the school. things I learned in 8th grade I am learning in High School.

I was a student that attended the school for 4 years it was great the kids were nice the bathrooms was always clean in the teachers was always nice the teachers always went all the way for there students if the school had a high school i would love to attended it my overall experience was great.

My son has attended ymca sla for 5 years now. Overall I am pleased with the school. I do have a few complaints though. The traffic is rediculous. Something needs to be done regarding the traffic. I think different start and end times for grades is needed. Trips are too expensise. Working people can not afford them. Lastly, the annual science fair projects are too difficult and advanced for the elementary students. My child will not be submitting any more projects because it is too time consuming for me. My plate is too full for extra stress. And where is the principal? The last principal seemed to be a little more involeved in day to day activities.

I have to say that I love this school and my son does as well, he is a fourth grader and will be here until the end. I love the run of the school and the professionalism of the staff. I wish my son could attend until 12th grade, the district really needs to look into it. I would bring my oldest son back. Keep up the good work.

I've been going to this school for 7 year's.I'ts a very good school. The best teacher in this school is Ms.Brown.On my report card all I get is (2.9-3.8 g.p.a).I love my school very much.

The teachers really do care! My 2 young men go to this school and they love it. My youngest has attended since Kindergarten, he speaks spanish and is learning sign lanugage. My oldest came to YMCA with only a 2.0 GPA. Since being at YMCA his GPA has been a 3.25 and better (honor roll student). He will be leaving this year 2004 going to high school. I wish they had a 9-12th grade. YMCA is the best!

From what I have witnessed the teachers and staff are dedicated to making sure these children have the best education. They make sure that the parents are involved with the all over learning process. There are numerous activities involving teachers, students, and parents. There is genuine affection between the students and staff. You can tell that these people truly care for the children and about their education.

i am a student. I am in the 6th grade and to me i love this school.
