Artist Bio
Growing up in Pittsburgh Pa. in close proximity to international exhibitions featured at the Frick Art Museum and the Clayton House, the residence of Henry Clay Frick, sparked Edwards's interest in mastering a wide variety of artistic disciplines.
Edwards earned a BA from Allegheny College and is a professional stone sculptor, woodcarver, painter and metalworker with over 20 years of experience in building design.
With an extremely diverse collection works in notable private collections he is best known for his nationally exhibited life size outdoor chess pieces and giant public art installations. The artist's award winning creations have been exhibited at such notable venues as The Carnegie Museum of Art, The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, The Mattress Factory, US Steel Building, PPG Place, Fifth Avenue Place, Pittsburgh Zoo, Hazlett Theater and The Omni William Penn Hotel. His art has been featured in The Tribune Review, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, The City Paper, on WYEP radio, KDKA TV and On Q Magazine in a promotional role for First Night organization's Pittsburgh New Year's Eve celebrations.
Edwards is a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Society of Sculptors and has participated in various Pennsylvania art educators conferences showing examples of interactive art projects for students and educators. Edwards accepts public and private commissions and periodically teaches painting and sculpture workshops throughout Allegheny County. Edwards welcomes requests for private instruction in stone sculpting and painting (oil, pastel or acrylic) at his studio In Glenshaw Pa.
