antanette leary's Bio
Her voice has been heard from the Mon Valley area of Pennsylvania, through the mountains of West Virginia, all the way to the foothills of North Carolina, making her home in each of these states, only to return to her roots in Pennsylvania. The eldest of four children, Antanette was born in Monongahela, just south of Pittsburgh. "At preschool age, I recall her singing in the car all the time. There was no need for a car radio when riding with Anna", her mother states. "She would sing anything and everything, from commercials to show tunes."
At age 5, Antanette shared the stage at a local event with Jim Capelli, musical host of Capelli & Co., a children's show produced in Pittsburgh. After moving to West Virginia at age 6, she began studying piano and voice. Antanette was thrust into the limelight competing at numerous talent and scholarship competitions at the recommendation of her vocal instructor and those who watched her perform.
At age 8, she moved to North Carolina with her family. There she auditioned and was selected to perform The National Anthem at Hickory Crawdads baseball games at L.P. Frans Stadium, which seats 5,092 fans. The Hickory Crawdads have been a farm team of the Pittsburgh Pirates since 1999.
After returning to Pennsylvania in 2000, Antanette "fine-tuned" her sound under the direction of Dr. Walter Weaver, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University and well-known vocal director in the Mon Valley area. In 2002, she wrote and recorded a song titled "Courage and Dedication", a tribute to the men and women of our armed forces. The song was entered into a local competition where it ranked first amongst 273 entries. A member of numerous chorale groups, Antanette was chosen for Top 21 in high school, a select group of vocally talented students. She also competed at PMEA District, Regional and State choral competitions. Her placements in competitions have awarded her scholarships which have been applied to her college education at The University of Pittsburgh where she is studying Education with a minor in Voice and Theatre. Ultimately, a career in the entertainment industry is equally important to her education.
Most recently she caught the attention of the producer of Nashville Spotlight and traveled to Nashville to host and perform on the show. Currently recording her first cd, Antanette enjoys mixing together blues, jazz, and country for a sultry sound that brings goosebumps to the skin. She enjoys performing wherever she can and is currently booking events at which to perform.
