When it’s time to party Pittsburgh boasts over 14,000 lively pubs, big clubs and cozy bars. It’s easy to find entertainment around Bessemer Court, Pittsburgh Mills, and Station Square and easy to club-hop in the Strip District. Empire (formerly The Metropol) draws national bands and holds title as Pittsburgh premier multi-level dance club. Next door at Rosebud, dance the sexy salsa, rock the night away and cool down with jazz. Dowe’s and Club Café are also known for the smooth jazz. Check the dance vibes at Club Chemistry. Sanctuary occupies a former church in the Strip District. Touch and Tequila Willie’s feature jungle and tropical themes. Get cozy lounging on luxurious pillows to the sounds of European music at the exotic Level Club Lounge.

On the classical side, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Opera and Civic Light Opera play to packed concert halls. Bach Choir performs dynamic interpretations of choral music from the Renaissance to contemporary and Pittsburgh Musical Theater offers top-name musicals like “Hello Dolly” and “My Fair Lady.” On the music festival scene the calendar is filled every season. The Pittsburgh Folk Festival features ethnic live music and dance in May each year. Thousands of music fans flock to Pittsburgh in July for the Pittsburgh Blues Festival and Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta. August brings the Greater Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival and in the Fall it’s Italian music at the Italian Festival and Irish jigs at the annual Irish Festival.
