It was late in the summer of 2003, the sky was big, dark and full of stars and the boy's heads were just the right kind of blurry.  The bonfire was big and the flowing alcohol and such were bringing the collective buzzing and haze into a tight focus around a particular idea.  Not like the staunch, stoic, fake, idealism of old, overweight white men; with flakey starch on the collars of their suits, the smell of expensive cigars and the mellow annoyance of false patriotism, with them waving the flag with one hand and jerking off with the other.  But instead with the ideals and concepts of personal freedom and the power of expression, the collaborative effort of breathing life into something and letting it go into this defective world like some sort of god damned smoking atomic monster.  Ideas like the biting need to lash out at the nearest living thing and kicking it's teeth in.  The idea for the band has always been, like it was that night long ago;  to do it differently!  To do it right!  To not sound like a boring, cookie cutter, cardboard rock and roll band of the week that you can see anywhere at any bar on Saturday nights across the country.  But to sound like  something more pure and right, more soulful, more honest and aggressive....more real.

Since that night they produce their brand of Harder-Rock driven by unrelenting guitar riffs, betrayed-and-pissed about it vocals, punk-influenced drums, and brick-wall solid bass lines.  But this is not what drew them together; this is not what keeps them together as a band.  It is the singleness of vision and the need to do something greater than the individual that keeps them together, like a twisted, demented Voltron functioning as a team, working through their own shit and kicking the teeth out of whatever lies in front of them.  Their destiny is waiting in the dirty, back alleys, bars and clubs blasting the audience with all their intensity and energy.  They are waiting to be found and cast into immortality with some sort of acid induced fate......

THE POINTE

The members of The Pointe met around 7 years ago.  Chris & Dave met through acquaintances at work to start a project called RainMaker.  From RainMaker they formed another band called FAIRGAME.  This is where Rich & Jason came in.  Rich was recruited into the band as a 1st time bass player and amazed everyone.  Jason was recruited into FairGame by Dave whom he met through work.  After a couple of years together the current lineup decided to take things a step further and form another band which is known today as THE POINTE.  Rich left The Pointe to spend time with his family and we all welcome Jim.  A hard working and talented Bass player.

They remain driven by their own common bond of playing and writing music.  The original songs produced by this band are a culmination of years of musical ideas and influences.  The impetus in forming this project was writing, and recording their own original songs, and that’s how they got to THE POINTE.

THE POINTE BAND BIO

Jason KellyElectric, Acoustic & 12-String Guitars: Jason provides a fresh writing and playing style that lends an eclectic sound to the music.  He has a strong on-stage presence that definitely brings out the feeling of the songs.

Chris BloomerElectric, Acoustic Guitars & More: Chris has a unique playing & writing style that is a good compliment to any musician.  With the use of his many effects pedals Chris’ musical soul definitely bleeds through in everything he does.

Jim BlevinsBass & Vocals:  Jim “Dookie” Blevins

Jim got the urge to start playing Bass Guitar after seeing Roger Waters “In The Flesh” tour in Pittsburgh, August 1999. That is what started it all. Jim’s goal was to learn “Money” then play the Dark Side Of The Moon album. Well after lots of time practicing alone I was able to “Git-R-Done”.

David SerettiPercussion, Lead & Backup Vocals:  Dave is a solid hard hitting drummer providing the right amount of punch to the aggressive songs and the right amount of flare to the slow songs.  Vocally Dave brings the soul of the songs written by The Pointe out to the forefront with a pleasing style to the ear.
