About Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
As far as air quality goes, Pittsburgh, the Bridge Capitol of the country, today is one of the cleanest cities you’ll find. No longer an industrial center for steel or heavy manufacturing, the city’s economic sources include healthcare, robotics, and financial services, to name three.
Attractions include museums, such as, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, the Carnegie Institute’s Museums of Art and Natural History, and the Andy Warhol Museum . Neighborhoods have been important in Pittsburgh’s history. Some still reflect the ethnic flavor of the city’s past with prominent African-American, Jewish, Polish, Italian, and German enclaves. Newer neighborhoods are found in the suburbs de-emphasizing the urban characteristics of the older neighborhoods.
Besides the usual fine-arts and music opportunities, Pittsburgh has a strong jazz and punk-rock scene. Also, there’s such a strong sense of civic pride that many of the city’s sports teams, for example, the Steelers, Penguins, as well as the police and fire departments, share the same colors: black and gold.
