Biography & Contact Info
Biography:

Located in the heart of Bridgeville, PA's central shopping district, you'll find Painted Treazures, home away from home for decorative artist, Debbie Nietsch. The artist's specialty shop and studio offers one-of-a-kind handpainted furnishings along with a variety of creative home decor, vintage accessories and collectibles, lamps, artwork, jewery and more!

The moment you enter Painted Treazures, you'll notice an ecletic mix of old meets new, displayed in decorated vinettes throughout the shop. In the rear is Debbie's open workshop area where the busy artist is on-site, paintbrush in hand and using her creative, spontaneous energy to design custom orders and new 'Painted Treazures' for sale. However, reupholstering, gluing, scraping, sanding, hammering, cleaning and polishing are all a part of the creative process. It just "depends on the day!"  Which is just what the artist envisioned when she set her goal to open Painted Treazures over two years ago.

Up until then, Debbie spent most of her time on ladders and scafoling, painting everything from faux finishes and wall murals, to handpainted brick and stone backsplashes, fireplace surrounds, marbling columns, faux woodgraining doors and moldings, and even painting faux flagstone on cement. "You name it, I painted it! No surface was sacred!" This is evident in the artist's South Fayette home, where she has at least five murals. You can go from Castleworld to Yankee Stadium to Montawk, Long Island's lighthouse, without leaving her home.

Leaving walls behind, Debbie set out to reach her goal...."Off the ladder by 40!" She is happy to report "I met that goal, in large part by keeping it with me. I hung it everywhere I worked! I knew a specialty shop with painted furnituring and accessories was where I wanted to be! I originally set up shop at a local tearoom. When space became available to open Painted Treazures at my current location, I was thrilled! I always wanted to be one of those little 'shops-of-the-block!' " located in the historical landmark building on the corner of Washington Ave. and Station Street.

In addition to painting furniture, Debbie is also available to consult on interior design and custom wall projects. But when it comes to painted furniture...."that's my love!" Many of the pieces I work on have been "in the family" for years. They just need a little love. Its fun when there's a history there and I can help keep grandma's old cedar chest in the family! That's exciting to me!" says the nostalgic artist. Anyone can own a 'Painted Treazure', they come in all shapes, sizes and colors.  Each piece is different and the amount of work determines the final cost. So stop in for a visit. You just never know what "treazures" await you!

Hours are Tues-Friday 10:00-3:00 and Saturdays 11:00-5:00.

Painted Treazures is located @ 509 Washington Avenue and Station Street in Bridgeville, PA. Free parking is available in the rear of the building with metered parking nearby. Please use upper level deck for rear entrance or street level front entrance.
